THD Reduction of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Using Genetic Algorithm

In this paper, the development of an efficient reduction of total harmonic distortion in an interior Permanent Magnetic Synchronous Motor(PMSM) servo drive by applying Genetic Algorithm (GA) is explained. Here GA is introduced to optimize the overall system characteristics of the permanent magnet synchronous motor even in the presence of disturbances with uncertainties. As the space vector modulation (SVM) technique is applied for smoothening the direct torque control(DTC) of the servo drive, all the motor torque constraints can be minimised. This new technique is simulated and then which is compared with the existing controllers like Fuzzy and Adaptive Neuro-fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). It has good tracking ability and hence the torque ripple is reduced significantly.
