Efficient Design of Hybrid Renewable Energy System Using Simulation Optimization

Abstract:

Software Engineering is the process of a systematic disciplined quantifiable approach to the development, operation and maintenance of software. Software Engineering deals with engineering problems, opportunities and needs associated with the development utilization of computer software. Simulation is the imitation of the operation of a real world process or system over time. A Hybrid Renewable Energy System (HRES) provides a viable solution for electrification of remote areas when grid extension is impossible or un economical. Such a system has several power stations and each of which includes photo voltaic generator (PV) wind power generator along with the diesel power generator as backup when renewable energy supply is insufficient. The determination of the size of photovoltaic (PV) wind and diesel power generators and size of energy storage system in each power station is very challenging. This is mainly due to profound uncertainty arising from renewable resources and the demand load and complex interaction among factors. This paper investigates the use of Monte Carlo simulation along with simulation optimization techniques for obtaining design of (HRES) in uncertain environments.
