GA Tuned AWPI Controller Based Chopper Driven PMDC Motor

Permanent Magnet DC Motors are widely used in precision control systems owing to their linear speed torque characteristics. The motor drive circuit consist of conventional or modern controller based chopper for the control of these motors. This paper, presents the genetic algorithm (GA) based tuning method for Anti-Windup PI (AWPI) controller. The gain values of AWPI controller values are tuned using GA to reduce the integral square error. The proposed drive system has been simulated using MATLAB/Simulink. The simulation results infer that an optimum performance is obtained. Results also signify the superiority of GA-AWPI over its conventional counterpart.
